Never leave a 5 year old alone!

So tonight Ryan is spending the night with me. I needed a quick shower so I decided to set him up in the living room with his Nintendo DS. I explained I would be really quick, I would leave the bathroom door unlocked if he needed me, and not to open the door for strangers, and blah blah blah. He was fine and was so engrossed with his game I figured he wouldn't even notice my quick absence. I had left him like this before with no problems. How much trouble could a smart independent sassy 5 year old get into anyways right? I was in the shower for maybe 6 minutes. I stepped from the bathroom calling Ryan's name......this is what walked down the hall to me...

I

Seriously......this is what I saw!

Where the heck did he find all this stuff anyways??

Okay, so I learned my lesson! From now on Ryan sits on the toilet while I shower? Nah.....I'll just tie him up! ; )

Auntie's New Years Rockin' Eve

This New Years Eve I got to spend with some pretty cool guys! Two of my nephews, Ryan and Christian! We had so much fun! We started the night with a trip to Red Robin for dinner with Granny! Mac and Cheese never tasted so good. Red Robin must have been the place for kids to be cause it was a mad house! I have to tell you a story. So we were sitting there eating and these three middle eastern guys came in and they had there head wraps on. A little girl (maybe 4) came out of the bathroom and saw them and screamed "PIRATES!! Real PIRATES!!" Everyone in RR just froze with embarrassment. The guys acted like they didn't hear anything and Ryan leaned over to me and said, "Doesn't that little girl even know those aren't pirates? They're from Africa!!" I was cracking up and it totally made my night. Kids really do say the darndest things. Cosby was right. Anyways we the made a trip Target really fast to pick up a movie. I left Granny in the car cause she can't walk and it was just a quick trip....Well.....I guess I shouldn't have done that because I left the heater on full blast for Granny-it was like 30 degrees out!! And when we got back to the car (maybe 10 min later), Granny was pissed off!! It was so hot she was almost sweating and I could hardly breathe in the car! I yelled "Granny! Why didn't you turn the heater off?!" She said "Well I didn't know if it would turn the whole car off or whatnot." Anyways after a long lecture from me she stated, "Well don't worry about it, if it got too bad, I woulda just broke open the window here..." I gently asked her if it ever got that bad, if she could please just open the door instead? So crisis averted, we went home to watch Nacho Libre (sp?). Halfway through the movie-Granny went home and the boys lost intrest and started a gun fight. Around 11pm I sat them down for painting into the new year! It was a great night, and we had sooooo much fun. The only thing that would have made it perfect was if Noie-oie could have been here with us! We sure do miss that little guy!
So here's some pictures from the end of the night. I hope everyone else had a fun and safe night! Happy 2009!!

They were trying to work and getting annoyed with me trying to take so many pictures.

Out with the old and in with the new!

I love this picture....I didn't know the T.V was going to come out so clear....51 seconds till 2009!!

Christian was explaining to Ryan that when the ball hits the bottom, it's the New Year!

They are such good share-ers....

The boys were outside poppin' fire crackers and spraying silly string until 12:30! I'm sure the neighbors were so happy! ; )

After it all, they were so hyped up with excitment and sugar, that they didn't go to sleep till after 1:30....I was so tired from being up at 5:00am for work, that I crashed out before them!

A true "The Office" Fan

As most of you know, I am an avid watcher of the hit NBC show The Office. I love the show. I’m what they call a “Super Fan”. How do you become a “Super Fan” you want to know? You don’t. You’re too late. “Super Fans” are those of us who have been with this show from the beginning. I’m talking Pilot episode. I’m talking Thursday, March 24th, 2005. Super Fans remember season one was a mere 6 episodes, and they sweated while waiting to find out if it was picked up for another season. Super Fans remember The Office used to be on on Tuesdays, and were pissed when they learned it was moved to Thursdays and would be up against Grey’s Anatomy. Super Fans went out to buy TiVO or DVR to make sure they missed neither. They remember Kelly looking and acting like she was a 40 year old Indian woman, rather than the 20 something pop culture fanatic she is today. Super Fans remember when Michael was fat. They remember when Angela was so tightly wound, an affair would seem 100% out of the question for her. We dreamed of what the Schrute Farm would look like, and dreamed of the day Jim and Pam would finally get together. Super Fans would talk about the office to their friends and family and receive blank stares as responses because it seemed nobody watched this beloved show. Super Fans begged and threatened those same friends and family to watch the show. Super Fans had no Officetally.com to run to immediately after each episode to share their favorite moments and find their favorite quotes. Super Fans friend requested each character on myspace and remember when Jenna Fischer used to tell you the moment during a taping when she was commenting you, so you could feel special-like on your birthday. We are the Super Fans. No one fan of the show has suffered through JAM as we have. You do not know the pain of Roy, Katy, stolen glances, lost moments, high fives, and “not a bad day” phrases of JAM, like that of a Super Fan. Watching all 4 seasons this past summer for the first time does not allow you to be a Super Fan. Even if you now stalk the set, collected all the Season 4 DVD gifts sets, or own a Fun Run for the Cure T-shirt. If you watched the heartbreaking “Casino Night” episode for the first time and then were able to immediately watch “Gay Witch Hunt” and find out what happened-you are not a Super Fan. I am a Super Fan. I still say to women- “Thank you very much sir! You are a gentleman and a scholar!” I still feel the panic inside before and after each episode. I still feel the awkwardness of the silent moments. I still believe the show is somehow real. I am a Super Fan.

To the moon & back!

So this weekend I got to play mommy to my oldest nephew Ryan. I love it. I love him! He is so smart and soooooo funny. We watched The Swan Princess (What if Odette doesn't go for the merger? Urge her!) Ryan loves the frog because he has an french accent. We also watched Spongebob's Christmas. What's better then Christmas songs in May? While watching the movies-Ryan decided to grace me with his artistic abilities....(and actually he is quite good). Notice in the picture of me-the two rather large black dots are representing my freckles. Why only two? Well let's be realistic....if he were to draw all my freckles "it would break the black marker". Also, for the record "mommy has pretty freckles because they're brown and you have ugly freckles cause their red." So go figure. He also made a portrait of himself. I think he looks handsome. We took a walk to the park where Ryan ignored me and played "who can scream the loudest" with some random little girl. Sadly, Ryan's screeches far surpassed the decibels of the little girl. Opera singer maybe? Who knew? Auntie Karly. We took the long way home so we could talk longer. Here are some things I learned on that walk:

1. Footballs look like squished basketballs

2. Jesus told a little girl to get up-and she did

3. Tonio will be at Tracee's tomorrow

4. Ryan wants a cell phone

5. Buzz Lightyear is better then Toy Story

6. Bugs make good pets when your mom wont get you a dog.

Frankly, my brain was on overload. Who'd of thought?

My favorite part of the day though? Hmmmmmm...that would have to be bath time when I was trying to wash his hair and he accused me of "trying to kill him" because soap got into his eyes. Also, he was trying to jump out of the bathtub as I'm trying to spray the soap out of his face. I ended up just as wet as he was.

But at the end of the day, when I'm kissing his face all over and he's pushing me away his hardest, there's nothing sweeter then when I say "Do you know how much I love you?" to which he replies "To the moon and back!"

That's right, kid. Always.....

Now if I can only get my other babies here with me....
